The story of The Well is a beautiful story told many years ago on the outskirts of an ancient town in Samaria. It is the story of an unnamed woman who had been rejected by society, a woman who struggled with her identity, a woman who had been badly hurt and undoubtedly abused by those who crossed her path. In her story of pain and grief, disappointment and heartbreak this broken woman walked a lonely road and found herself at the well.

What she didn't realise was that, on that particular day, she had been seen by the Saviour. Her hearts cry had been heard by the One who had seemed so far off. In the daily run of her life, she had run straight into the man of her dreams, the Lord Jesus Christ, the Son of God.

In those moments as she was confronted with the true reality of her life, she didn't fight it, or flea from it, or freeze, instead she found herself at complete liberty and ease to talk openly to someone who would listen. As the conversation continued, her heart which had been empty for some time, now was being filled with the Living Waters. The void had become a vault of love. She had found the One whom her soul loves, Jesus Christ, and He had gone out of His way to find her. In finding Jesus, she herself had been found.

On that particular day many years ago that unnamed woman's life was forever changed at the well as she embraced the love that was freely offered to her.

Her legacy of hope, healing and wholeness lingers on through the passage of time giving us all that same expectancy that our lives too can be changed if we choose to embrace Jesus. The reality of our individual story might look very different to hers, but often our heart cries out with the exact same sound.

For us here, the story of The Well lives on now on the outskirts of another town, Enniskillen. Jesus has passed this way to meet with you because He cares deeply about you.
